Chinese Travel Pack – PCR Swab & IgM Antibody Combination
This test is for results by midnight the next day*
For travel to China you need both an IgM antibody blood test and a PCR swab test to accurately assess whether you are currently (or very recently) infected with the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus.
Results certificates are sent to you by email which can be used for travel.
The PCR swab tests checks to see if you currently have any SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus in your nose or throat. This tests for the RNA of the virus itself, confirming the presence of the actual virus in the nose and throat at the time you swab. It is 100% specific.
The IgM antibody test checks to see if your body has developed any IgM antibodies as a reaction to the presence of the virus. IgM levels rise within days of the virus and drop off rapidly, so it is a very good indication if you have been exposed to covid-19 in the previous few days.
While there are no absolute guarantees with any testing process, you can be confident that it is very unlikely that you have been infected by covid-19 if both your PCR and your IgM results comes back negative. This is why countries are adopting this dual test process to ensure that people are not carrying the virus with them when they travel.
Onsite Clinic Testing – These tests need to be taken by a trained healthcare professional at our London locations – Leicester Square.
*Please note: Please contact us at email@example.com if you have not received your results & certificate by 8 pm the day after your swab arrived at our laboratory. We process all results in batches commencing the next morning after they arrive in our laboratory. This means your results will be back to you late in the evening of the day after your sample gets to our laboratory 95% of the time. For example, if you get your sample to us on Monday, you will receive your result by email sometime between 6pm and midnight on Tuesday. Please note this test required to be present at the Clinic. If timing is important to you, coming to Leicester square clinic to have your swab taken to ensure you have the best chance of getting your result the evening after your swab is taken. Also please be aware that in up to 5% of cases, tests need to be re-run which is an unavoidable reality with such a precise and sensitive laboratory test. Please allow for the possibility that it will be a day longer to get your results to you when you are making travel plans.
