Covid-19 PCR Swab Test at Clinic to identify Current Infection.
The Covid-19 PCR Swab Test kit is administrated by one of our qualified nurses at the Clinic. The test includes a swab from back of throat and a swab from one of the nostrils. At the Clinic at time of appointment the Receptionist will help you with the paperwork and provide you with face covering if you do not have one. Our nurses will give you some instructions and talk you through the process. Please avoid eating for an hour or two prior to testing and bring a bottle of water in case you would like a drink after your swab. Once you have your test, we will do the rest. Our Lab will send the link to your results. This takes 1 or 2 days*.
This Test is to identify the if you currently have the Novel Corona Virus infection. If you would like to know if you have been infected with SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) in the past then you should select out IgG Antibody test which will give you accurate information as there is available about past exposure.
The Test is manufactured in the UK by one of the UKs leading research laboratories and is UKAS certified and PHE approved.
Please note :
We process all results in batches commencing the next morning after they arrive in our laboratory. This means your results will be back to you late in the evening of the day after your sample gets to our laboratory 95% of the time. For example, if you get your sample to us on Monday, you will receive your result by email sometime between 6pm and midnight on Tuesday. Please do not rely on the mail if timing is important to you as it is unreliable at present. Coming to Our Leicester square Clinic to have your swab taken is the best way to ensure you have the best chance of getting your result the evening after your swab is taken. Also please be aware that in up to 5% of cases, tests need to be re-run which is an unavoidable reality with such a precise and sensitive laboratory test. Please allow for the possibility that it will be a day longer to get your results to you when you are making travel plans.

The advice about to what to do if you either infected or not is continually being updated by the NHS here: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/. If you are feeling unwell please go straight to https://111.nhs.uk/service/COVID-19/ where you will find what to do next.
If you do return a positive result your doctor is legally bound to let Public Health England know as it is notifiable disease.
*Please note that it is not possible to always guarantee that every result will be back in the expected turnaround time of the next evening. There are occasions when the test has to be re-run. This is an intrinsic part of the sensitive PCR testing process and happens in 1-3% of tests. COVID TEST LONDON will refund you the cost of your test if the advertised turnaround times are not met but they will not under any circumstances refund any other costs that you may incur due to a delay in your results getting to you.
A PCR test looks for the presence of the RNA of the virus itself. This means that it will pick up the presence of the actual virus in the nose and throat. It is 100% sensitive at detecting any virus on the swab. This is a more expensive test as it requires more technical expertise than the antibody tests. This is not the best test for checking whether you are infectious or not as it will often continue to pick fragments of RNA after levels have dropped below those needed to be infecting others.
That by providing you with the option to obtain this test we are not impacting in any way on the ability of NHS workers or anyone else to get tested for coronavirus. We also guarantee that the prices we charge are reasonable considering the costs incurred in delivering this test to you entirely without any government funding.
