Truth: Anybody can be infected with Coronavirus, regardless of their social class or net worth, COVID-19 could infect people from all over the world, including people of all backgrounds, nationalities, ages, and financial statuses.

Can you tell if someone has COVID-19 Immediately?

Truth: No. The virus that causes COVID could be in a person’s body for close to 14 days before symptoms begin to manifest, while other people may have a mild case of COVID-19 that they might not have any symptoms of COVID.

Please note that you can still pass COVID-19 on, even if you don’t have any symptoms. That’s why it is essential that everyone follows all safety precautions such as social distancing, wearing a face mask, and regular hand washing – even if they feel healthy.

Do young people not have to worry about COVID-19 because it affects old people?

Truth: While Coronavirus can be very severe in the aged, anyone can get infected. Young people are not excluded. Some can become seriously ill than others. While it is still unknown why some people get very serious symptoms, we cannot say for sure that young people are more likely to develop serious symptoms if they have some underlying health conditions like obesity, diabetes, cancer, or high blood pressure.

Are COVID-19 vaccines safe for everyone?

Truth: Yes. COVID vaccines have gone through some testing and authorization processes to make sure they are safe and healthy for usage.

Most of the Coronavirus vaccine trials carried out include people living with HIV, and so far the results show that the vaccines are also safe for people with HIV.

As with most vaccines, most people may experience mild symptoms days after taking a COVID-19 vaccination. Some side effects include a sore arm, mild fever, or generally feeling unwell. Some people have had an allergic reaction after being vaccinated, but this is very rare and can be safely managed

Are anti-malaria drugs helping fight against COVID-19?

Truth: There is currently no proof that suggests antimalarial drugs can treat or help in the prevention of COVID-19.

An investigation into the anti-malarial drug, hydroxychloroquine, in summer 2020 found no evidence that the drug could prevent people from needing ventilation or dying, or help speed up their recovery.

Other trials are still ongoing to find an effective treatment against COVID-19.

Can hot drinks prevent you from being infected with COVID-19?

Truth: No hot or drink will protect you from coronavirus or cure the illness. However, most people who get COVID-19 recover by themselves by taking; paracetamol, drinking lots of liquids and getting enough rest to help in the management of their symptoms.
